SEM Co., Ltd. Technology
Lithium Direct Production Technology from Waste Batteries
The existing technology for extracting lithium from batteries and cathode scraps requires both dry and wet processes. Hydrometallurgical or wet process individually recovers transition metals such as Ni, Co, Mn and collect Li at the final stage. Such multi-stage process results in high energy consumption and the production of large amount of wastewater and waste sludge. SEM's direct lithium production technology (DLP Technology) is a new innovative approach that efficiently and eco-friendly produces lithium (lithium hydroxide, lithium carbonate) and NCM precursor directly from waste batteries after a thermochemical reaction followed by selective Li leaching.

Direct Lithium Extraction Technology (DLET) From Brine Pool
Brine reservoirs, the natural repositories rich in lithium, are vital for the global production of electric vehicle batteries. Yet, the push to scale up lithium extraction from these sources is hindered by ecological concerns, including water scarcity, protracted production cycles extending beyond a year, and the suboptimal efficiency of current methods. To address these challenges, developers working with saline aquifers are in pursuit of groundbreaking technologies. Such advancements are expected to concurrently elevate production efficiency and reduce the environmental footprint.
